Cherine’s Story
An old vision… one that has been within me forever, but slowly began to fascinate me in a new way. My story with these sweets is one of nostalgia, attachment, appreciation, and the desire to meet these heavenly and elegant confections into one: Marzipan.
It’s really surprising… how one’s history can accompany them everywhere. From Syrian parents, I lived my early childhood in Beirut, then moved during the war to Syria, France, then to the United States. In Beirut, my mother used to have an American pastry book by her bedside. I would sit and marvel in front of the buttercream decorated cakes full of designs and creativity. During my later years, the sophistication of the Syrian Lebanese sweets and the finesse of French pastries captivated me even more.
How could it not? How can you resist the most mouthwatering desserts from the best places on Earth? I wish for you the same pleasurable experience, the same heavenly elevation, because yes, they do take you to a different world.
